The club's day of coaching, competition and food rounded off with a spectacular Auction of Promise last Sunday was a resounding success. Participants came from as far afield as Penzance and Bridgwater - the coaching session was over-subscribed with three brave seniors joining twenty youngsters aged from six upwards. After lunch and a video analysis session, forty players competed in the open competition. Two players making a rare appearance at the table after outstanding careers in their youth led the way. Gary Wilson remained unbeaten to take the winner's trophy with Gary Lambert edging out his wife Helen for the runners-up spot. Fourth and fifth were the leading juniors, Sally & Chris Smith.
Dinner was served for fifty people followed by the auctioning of 65 lots including a family day of yacht sailing, a year's ticket to Crealy Adventure Parks and the club's leading players offering their services as doubles partners. A staggering £750 was raised for club funds to include support for the Women's Team's excursions into Europe.
